Pirate Ship Pop Up Card

An annual (okay, tri-annual) occurrence in our house has been the making of invitations for birthday parties.  We are relatively unusual, in that we limit the number of invitees to our kids party to the age of the child.  No 30 child birthday parties for us.  This makes it pretty easy to make invitations that are customized to the type of parties, including foam core alethiometers for a Golden Compass party and paper pop up pirate ships, forts, and even a Jedi holocron!

This year’s was a pirate party again and we used Robert Sabuda’s design.  We’ve used another in the past and it’s a bit more fiddly but just as much fun.  We always get nice compliments for the cards when they’re received but, to be truthful, it’s just a whole lot of fun to make them!  Here are a couple of photos of the card.
