Putting the Squeeze on Your Technology

Putting the Squeeze on Your Technology by David Whelan We all use technology in our daily work, whether we’re legal researchers, lawyers, or anyone dealing with current information. I wrote an article for the Cincinnati Bar Association’s monthly magazine on how to get more out of the technology we’re using.

The Cincinnati Bar Association is our local bar association and they provide a lot of services to their members throughout Hamilton County.  The CBA Report usually has a tech tip article, and that’s what my piece is.  I go over getting more out of Web-based e-mail (prompted by a lawyer I know who is always maxing out his ISP-based e-mail account storage, and who hadn’t been aware he could access it from anywhere), using flash memory drives, and using RSS on mobile devices.  CBA members can access the article online.

I improve information access and lead information teams. My books on finding information and managing it and practicing law using cloud computing reflect my interest in information management, technology, law practice, and legal research. I've been a library director in Canada and the US, as well as directing the American Bar Association's Legal Technology Resource Center. I speak and write frequently on information, technology, law library, and law practice issues.
