This is one of my favorite flowers, one that I hadn’t known about at all when I started this project. It is the spotted Touch-me-not, or jewelweed. I have a picture of it here as well. This stand was between the path and the train tracks.
I caught sight of some small orange flowers so I stepped off the path – and found that there was a sharp drop down to a bit of a gully. The ground was a few feet lower and damper, which explains why the jewelweed is growing here. I clambered over some old wood before I got close enough to confirm it was another jewelweed patch. Just as beautiful as ever.
