One of the things I hadn’t expected to see was fungus high up on trees. I have often see it on trees that have fallen and are deteriorating in damp conditions. But there were a couple of fungi hanging about high up.
This first one was about 20 feet up. It had been white about a week ago but I’m wondering whether the frost, cold, and rain have killed it.
This other one looks like the top of a mushroom or toadstool, and was about 3 feet off the ground. Neither of these were in otherwise swampy areas. Nor was there any other fungus on the trees next to them. Very odd. It looks as though something may have been eating the top off this one.
