Yellow (Northern) Flicker

A loud call was coming from up on the electrical pylon that is situated on one side of the river.  My eyes weren’t sharp enough to see what it was but it looked a bit like a woodpecker.  Once I was able to see the photo I took more closely, it appears to be a Northern Flicker (of the Yellow-Shafted variety).  In fact, my bird book is apparently so old, that it categorizes the Yellow and Red varieties as different birds.
